A portrait of Hannah on purple background

SUPERRR is growing - Welcome Hannah!

We are very excited to announce a new addition to our team! Hannah joined our team as Senior Policy Advisor!

SUPERRR: A good way to get to know someone is via their side projects and hobbies. What are some of your current side projects, Hannah?

Hannah: I spend as much time as possible with my child, so between the beauty of raising a child, of growing together as a family, and the everyday care work, there is not much time left. One of my constant side projects for the last seven+ years has been my activism with netzforma* e.V. – Verein für feministische Netzpolitik. What I’m also really passionate about, call it my hobby, is photography. I actually started taking pictures when I was like ten years old with a very simple analogue camera and went from analogue to digital with the first “digi cams” in the early 2000s and evolved from there to a DSLR (and back and forth to a very old SLR from the 1980s). I enjoy photography very much and have been learning how to get better at taking pictures of very active children who constantly are on the move. I also enjoy photography as art and one of my favorite museums for photography exhibitions is C/O Berlin.

SUPERRR: With Superrr Lab we are thinking a lot about the future(s). What is an object / application that does not yet exist – but something that you would like to have at your disposal in a preferable digital future? Something you would use every day and cannot imagine living without?

Hannah: One of the biggest challenges in parenthood is mental load – so a tool that I would use everyday would relieve and support our family system in taking some of that mental load and effectively take care of the chores. I’m sure that this tool already exists, like meal planning and grocery shopping – but it should exist without massive data collection. Every tool that makes our life easier should work for us and not for a big company sucking your data.

SUPERRR: What's your biggest energy sucker these days?

Hannah: I’m worried about many things regarding our futures, especially my child’s future – climate crisis, global politics, shift to the right, backlash - you name it. What I’m currently frustrated the most about is how little children’s lives and futures count in politics. Our public care system, which is comparatively good, does not have enough resources to adequately be there for children. We are living in a care crisis and nobody (in positions of power) cares. Instead, politicians call for more work – turning a blind eye to care work once again.

SUPERRR: What is a small humble change you would like to see in the world? How can we work towards it?

Hannah: I think that we as a society and as role models for the next generations to come would benefit from smartphone detoxes every once in a while. Going somewhere on the U-Bahn and seeing everyone just looking at their screens, without interaction or friendly conversations, leaves an impression on babies, toddlers and kids. Sometimes its giving me Black Mirror vibes, to be honest. You often see parents at playgrounds looking at their phones instead of their kids. Let’s all look at each other more often, instead of onto our screens all day long (- obviously respecting everyone’s privacy and boundaries and without judging anyone). Generally speaking, all of us who use smartphones tend to use them a little too often.

SUPERRR: Things we should all read/know about! Please share some of your favorite projects, texts, links, inspirations with us:

Hannah: I’m a TV series nerd, mainly because I enjoy narrative storytelling. I love a good crime show like Luther, Broadchurch, the Fall, Killing Eve, Top of the Lake, or Elementary. I enjoy legal and polit-drama shows like The Handmaid’s Tale or Little Fires Everywhere, and especially legal or polit-dramas like Borgen, The Wire, Damages, How to Get Away with Murder, The Americans, Scandal, or The Good Wife and its sequel The Good Fight. I’m also a huge fan of coming of age series like Sex Education, Never Have I Ever, On my Block, Heartstopper, Forever, or Heart Break High. Need a recommendation for your next watch? I got you.

SUPERRR: Last but not least, what's your favourite Meme?

I really love sveamaus!

Also, I love a good cat (and the penguin!) meme – could not decide which text, but these have been among my favorites to be used in any creative way possible!
